Things to Do & Amenities at Diamond Cove


Restrictions and guidelines are in place to help aid safe use of our amenities.  Not all amenities will be available during Covid-19.

 

Whether you are buying a home on Diamond Cove or just vacationing for a week in our community, you will have access to many top-notch amenities and services. We have something for everyone – young, old, active or relaxed. For those who like to spend part of their vacation staying in shape or just enjoy exercise, our residents have access to:

  • A heated swimming pool
  • Two tennis courts surrounded by a mature tree grove
  • Plenty of room on the Parade Ground to use croquet, badminton, and volleyball equipment.
  • A fitness center, located in the former Fort McKinley Post Exchange, that includes free weights, Nautilus equipment, Stairmaster, Elliptical, a rowing machine and yoga equipment.
  • A recently refurbished Yoga room with weekly classes
  • The original indoor basketball court, also in the former PX (which is now the Diamond Cove administration building)
  • Miles of trails and island roads to walk, run or bike.
  • A restored turn-of-the-century bowling alley that features duckpin bowling,  ping pong, pool table, and classic arcade games.
  • For youngsters, the playground is next to the Parade Ground

If you prefer a different kind of vacation relaxation, the administration building also offers:

  • A video lending library and a book exchange

If you want to fully explore Diamond Cove, you can:

  • Visit one of six secluded, private beaches and recreation areas
  • Enjoy the waterfront picnic areas
  • Hike miles of trails through old growth forest.
  • Visit the enchanting Moon Garden, formerly the Engineer’s Wharf, for an unforgettable way to see the sun rise or the moon set on the blue waters. Look for eagles, seals, osprey, herons and loons frequently seen along the shore.
  • Visit Fort McKinley Museum, next door to the Art Gallery, which displays relics of the fort’s past
  • Take a historical tour of Fort McKinley/Diamond Cove. You must make an appointment for a tour.

If you want a bite to eat, visit the island’s General Store for a casual breakfast, lunch or dinner .  To experience a formal meal, the Diamond’s Edge Restaurant is the place to go.
